The Roof over B’s Head

Hi all–some of you know (but most of you don’t) local writer and Nashville Scene contributor, Betsy Phillips. Her ceiling collapsed recently (for those of you who live in older homes, this is actually a common occurrence during periods of extreme heat and drought!) and, quite unfortunately, homeowner’s insurance does not cover the cost of repairs.

So Kristin Whittlesey and Beth Downey have organized a benefit book reading and signing and gathering of friends and such at The Barista Parlor on August 18 at 5pm. As part of the fundraiser, there will be a bake sale similar to Sweet Relief. As in, bakers make their favorite goodies and package to sell at $1 or $2 (or whatever is appropriate, but priced to move) with all proceeds going to the benefit fund. Kristin will be making her famous midnight cookies, so even if you don’t plan to participate, you should stop by and check out what’s for sale!

Event details are here:

If you’d like to donate, I will collect (either by drop-off or pick-up if I can) on Friday and Saturday (until 3p) or items can be dropped off at Kristin’s house on either day. I’m also really hoping that Chris Chamberlain will make that Krispy Kreme bread pudding again since I didn’t have any last time.

Let me know if you’d like to participate and when/where you’d like to drop off (you can even bring stuff to Barista Parlor at the beginning of the event). lesley at lesleyeats dot com.

Thanks, y’all!
